Connecting children to their natural world through educational hands-on experiences

Hands on Nature is an educational outdoor nature program available to preschool and elementary school children located in Berlin, MA.

We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Our vision is to nurture a deeper relationship between children and the Earth, and to create future stewards of the land.  We offer three types of  programs: After School Programs, Homeschooling Classes, and Summer Programs.

Our mission at Hands On Nature is to connect children to the natural world through educational hands-on experiences. We believe that children learn best in an outdoor classroom, getting their hands dirty and experiencing nature’s wonders firsthand. Through nature walks and outdoor activities children will learn directly about the local wildlife and plants of New England. We provide a place for children to explore, enjoy, and directly experience the beauty of the natural world.

Building on children’s innate sense of wonder and curiosity, our programs bring children back outdoors and into the woods again.  The increasing trend toward more indoor TV and computer time makes our programs vital for children today.

Our vision is that children will develop a renewed sense of their connection to the Earth, a deepened respect for the beauty of the natural world, and a sense of their place in it.

"In the end, we will conserve only what we love,
we will love only what we understand,
and we will understand only what we are taught."
